We’re Michael and Yemisi.
We are both from the United States and Yemisi now lives in South Korea. Our passion is to travel the world as much as possible. If there is a cheap flight we’re on it! Follow along with us as we document our adventures.
Our Story
Okay, Long story short!
In a small Midwest town in 2019, Michael was a barista and Yemisi was a customer. She was planning to move to South Korea in seven months, and a relationship was not in the cards, but life is crazy and here we are! We liked each other and decided to date long-distance, and then COVID happened. We didn’t think we would see each other for years, but Michael decided to get his first passport to visit Korea. After COVID restrictions were relaxed, we decided that we wanted to visit as many countries as we reasonably could with our 9 to 5 jobs. As long as one of us has a holiday, we are always searching for the cheapest destination.
The Name
The name “Where Aren’t They Going? ” comes from Michael’s sister when we were having a family conversation about our trips. We found this so funny that we quoted it a lot. When coming up with the idea for the site we knew it would be the perfect name. Thanks, Kati!
Yemisi
Hi! I’m a proud Trini and Nigerian first-generation American. I always wanted to travel the world. I am someone who is always planning a trip whether as small as going to a park or as big as going to the desert in Mongolia. I love specialty coffee shops even though I don’t drink coffee, and my cat is the GREATEST.
I was born and raised in the American Midwest. I didn’t leave the country until I was 19, and since then I’ve been hooked on exploring the world, meeting new people, and immersing myself in new cultures. I love writing music, taking photos, and creating videos. I worked as a specialty barista for four years, so no matter where we go you can trust I will look for good coffee!
