Public Transit

Transport in Thailand is mixed. It is possible to take trains and busses across the country. Bangkok has a relatively robust train network, with several sky trains as well as subways. The trains are high quality and convenient, with great coverage of the city. Public busses are also available, with a mix of nice new busses, and older ones that locals tend to use. Outside of the capital, there are no subways. Other cities can be reached by train or long distance bus. In places like Phuket, Grab Taxi is the only good way to get around, so if you plan on staying long term renting a car might be the best option. Some islands like Phi Phi only have ferry’s and water taxis.
